Become a Foster Parent
Foster parents play an essential role in providing temporary, safe and nurturing homes to children when their parents are unable to care for them. New York State continues to be a leader in finding permanent safe and nurturing homes for our children.
The number of children in foster care in New York State has decreased from 53,902 children in 1995 to 20,539 as of December 31, 2012, a significant reversal of trends from the 1980s and early 1990s. There have been tremendous strides made in bringing families together across New York State, but the need for foster/adoptive homes is still great. We must remain ever vigilant to give our children the best care and support possible, while working to bring permanency and stability into their lives.
We appreciate your interest in serving the children and families of Western New York. To help you better understand the Foster Care Program at Native American Community Services of Erie & Niagara Counties, Inc. (NACS), we invite you to attend one of our Foster Care Program Orientations. For more information about foster care and adoption and to register, please contact the foster care department at NACS or call 716-874-2797 Ext. 303.
