Achieving Our Dreams
A community-based drug and alcohol prevention program for youth and adults
The "Achieving Our Dreams" (AOD) program is a new approach to the prevention of alcohol and other drug abuse in Native communities.
The overall goal of this program is to empower youth and community to live healthy lifestyles by:
- Increasing our sense of control & motivation to make better decisions and live a healthier lifestyle
- Decreasing alcohol and drug use / abuse
- Increasing help-seeking behaviors
- Decreasing risky behaviors
Program Offerings
We offer the following evidenced-based model programs for youth:
- Life Skills Training Sessions:
- Elementary level (Grades 3-6)
- Too Good for Violence (Grades K-4)
- Too Good for Drugs (Grades 5-8)
- SPORT (for Middle & High School youth)
Community Events and Offerings
- Haudenosaunee Social Dances
- Documentary showings focusing on Native Health & Wellness
- Celebrating with a Good Mind – monthly drug and alcohol–free events
- Problem Gambling Awareness workshops
- Native American Cultural Competency trainings
